COVID-19 Prevention Checklist (For school administrators, teachers and staff)


  1. Promote and demonstrate regular hand washing and positive hygiene behaviors and monitor their uptake. Ensure adequate, clean and separate toilets for girls and boys

  • Ensure soap, disposable paper towels and lidded rubbish bins is available at age-appropriate hand washing stations
  • Encourage frequent and thorough washing (at least 20 seconds)
  • Place hand sanitizers in toilet, classrooms, halls, and near exits where possible
  • Ensure adequate and clean toilet, changing room and shower facilities

 

  2. Clean and disinfect school buildings, classrooms and especially water and sanitation facilities at least once a day. Clean and disinfect particularly surfaces that are touched by many people (lunch tables, sports equipment, door and window handles, toys, teaching and learning aids etc.) at least twice daily

  • Use 1 in 99 diluted household bleach (mixing 1 part of household bleach containing 5.25% sodium hypochlorite with 99 parts of water), leave for 15-30 minutes, rinse with water and wipe dry afterwards. For metallic surface and small items, disinfect with 70% alcohol.

 

  3. Increase air flow and ventilation (open windows, ensure there is sufficient fresh air supply if the air conditioning system is used, etc.)

 

  4. Post signs encouraging good hand and respiratory hygiene practices

 

  5. Ensure trash is removed daily and disposed of safely
