Youth Leadership Development

Youth power is precious assets of Hong Kong Red Cross. During the past decades, our agency is actively encouraging young people in participating various humanitarian work, so as to equip them to become humanitarian leader who cares about minority and the community in need. Through coordinating, supporting and promoting the work by local and overseas Red Cross Youth, we hope to increase the youth involvement of university students and working youth with their unique potentials, to carry out various humanitarian social services within the agency and contribute in Red Cross Movement.

 
Red Cross Youth Plus

RCY+ is a platform for youth to organize various activities, to promote youth participation and encourage youth voice.

1.    Practice - To apply our values and believes into our daily actions.
2.    Learn - To gain or acquire knowledge and skill by experience and practice.
3.    Unite - To come together for a common mission.
4.    Serve - To work and perform duties for others 'well-being.

Local Activities

Humanity Academy 
As a platform for youth leadership development, the program is focused primarily on diversity learning and experiential learning. Through different activities and services, the program aims to enable tertiary students to understand the humanitarian works of HKRC, to develop a positive attitude towards volunteer work and to analyze social issues from a humanitarian perspective, thereby becoming leaders with a global vision and a humanitarian mindset, and eventually offering their long-term support to the Red Cross Movement.

Study groups on humanitarian issues 

In aggregate for HKRC and communities, teenagers plan and organize community services to care and serve the vulnerable groups. By experiencing different forms of social services and exploration to the society, it encourages our members to reflect on humanitarian issues from different perspectives and put volunteerism into practice.

International conferences and forums
RCY Leaders have chances to represent HKRC and take part in various international youth forums, including the “East Asia Leaders Meeting and East Asia Youth Network Meeting” and the “IFRC General Assembly”. We encourage them to give views and learn from Red Cross members in different places.

Y+ Youth Life-Wide Education Centre

To align with the education and youth development approach of the agency, the headquarters offers a flexible and diversified platform for innovative youth activities. With stage lighting and sound equipment, activities such as medium- and small-scale performances, seminars and sharing sessions can be held in Y+.
