Everyone can live out humanity! Ms Ellen Loo, the Promotion Ambassador of the “Hong Kong Humanity Youth Power” has demonstrated how people can bring warmth and care to the vulnerable. She joined the“Humanitarian Caring Visit” programme co-organized by the Hong Kong Red Cross and other organizations earlier to pay home visit to the elderly in need.

Ellen, together with other volunteers, visited Granny Li at her public housing unit in Chai Wan on 10 January. Besides bringing her care and happiness, they also presented her with a “blessing bag” filled with festival gifts. They also taught Granny Li simple exercises for warding off the cold. “Granny Li made jokes and shared her daily living stories with us. Knowing that she is satisfied with her current circumstances makes me feel happy and reassured,” Ellen says.

Ellen hopes to encourage more young people to join the humanitarian force. “Youngsters possess many special qualities, including burning passion. They should make good use of such qualities, and through their preferred means, to actively care and help the people in need in our society.”
