Disaster Preparedness Foundation Training

If individuals and the community possess sufficient knowledge and resilience such as basic survival skills and first aid knowledge before crisis and emergencies occur, causalities and damage can be greatly reduced, and thus facilitating community recovery.

With the aim to enhance knowledge and skills amongst general public on the scope of community resilience and aim at improve public’s response capacity to urban crises and emergencies in high risk communities. Hong Kong Red Cross has developed a Disaster Preparedness Foundation Training Course suitable for people from all walks of life. This workshop serves as an introduction to the basic elements of disaster preparedness through interactive learning. It also provides basic understanding of the common disasters, Emergency Kit, communicable disease, principles of first aid and psychological first aid.

Remarks:	Applications must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the proposed activity date. Activity can be conducted in Cantonese, English, or Mandarin, please indicate your preference during the application. The format of the activity will be discussed based on the location, number of participants, and duration. The applying organization must arrange for computer, screen, and other equipment. If the activity is to be held for more than one session, an additional fee will be charged for each session. If the number of participants is no less than 20 or more than 30, please contact us to discuss arrangements We may require NGOs to submit relevant proof of documentation.

Community Resilience Experiential Activity

Community Resilience experiential activities can be held with other workshops, including VR experience, fire, heat wave and cold spell workshops, design Emergency Kit, and first aid skills experience etc.

1. Moving Disaster Preparedness Education Truck

Hong Kong Red Cross Moving Disaster Preparedness Education Truck for participants to experience a mixture scenario of typhoon and fire in the truck, to learn how to deal with disasters.

Venue:	Arranged a parking place for a 9-ton truck by Applying organization
Training Mode	To experience a mixture scenario of typhoon and fire in the truck, to learn how to deal with disasters.
Target Participants:	Anybody
Remark:	Applications must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the proposed activity date. Activity can be conducted in Cantonese, English, or Mandarin, please indicate your preference during the application. The experience takes 15 minutes per session and accommodates 6-8 participants at a time. The applying organization must pre-arrange the participants into groups of 6-8 people for the activity to proceed smoothly. The content of the activity will be discussed based on the location, number of participants, and duration. If the number of participants is less than 100, please contact us to discuss. #An additional fee of $600 will be charged for an increase of 1-15 participants, and an additional fee of $1200 will be charged for an increase of 16-30 participants, and so on. We may require NGOs to submit relevant proof of documentation.

2. Virtual Reality (VR) Experiential Game

Virtual Reality (VR) Game is designed for participants to experience flooding, earthquake and infectious disease, to learn how to deal with disasters.

Venue:	Arranged by applying organization; which must be indoors and equipped with power supply facilities
Training Mode:	To experience flooding, earthquake and infectious disease by VR Games to learn how to deal with disasters.
Target Participants:	Anybody
Remark:	Applications must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the proposed activity date. Activity can be conducted in Cantonese, English, or Mandarin, please indicate your preference during the application. Height Limitation: 120 - 190cm Each game session lasts approximately 5 minutes, and can accommodate 20-30 participants per hour. The applying organization must pre-arrange the participants into groups of 6-8 people for the activity to proceed smoothly. Each device requires a minimum space of 3 meters by 3 meters, and access to power and Wi-Fi. #An additional hourly fee will be charged for an increase of 10-40 participants, and an additional 2-hour fee will be charged for an increase of 41-70 participants, and so on. We may require NGOs to submit relevant proof of documentation.

3. Community Tour on Climate Disaster

Through the guided tour activity, participants can learn about typhoons, storm surges, and their impact on residents of High Risk District. At the same time, they can understand the impact of extreme weather on the community and how individual actions can help mitigate climate change.

Venue:	The activity would take place in the Sai Kung or Lei Yue Mun;
Training Mode:	Through the guided tour activity, participants can learn about typhoons, storm surges, and their impact on residents of High Risk District. At the same time, they can understand the impact of extreme weather on the community and how individual actions can help mitigate climate change.
Target Participants:	Anybody
Remark:	Applications must be made at least 6 weeks prior to the proposed activity date. Please indicate in the application whether the activity would take place in the Sai Kung or Lei Yue Mun; Activity will be conducted in Cantonese； Even if the number of participants is less than 30, it will be counted as 30. If there are more than 30 people, please contact us for further information. We may require NGOs to submit relevant proof of documentation.
