Disaster Preparedness Foundation Training
If individuals and the community possess sufficient knowledge and resilience such as basic survival skills and first aid knowledge before crisis and emergencies occur, causalities and damage can be greatly reduced, and thus facilitating community recovery.
With the aim to enhance knowledge and skills amongst general public on the scope of community resilience and aim at improve public’s response capacity to urban crises and emergencies in high risk communities. Hong Kong Red Cross has developed a Disaster Preparedness Foundation Training Course suitable for people from all walks of life. This workshop serves as an introduction to the basic elements of disaster preparedness through interactive learning. It also provides basic understanding of the common disasters, Emergency Kit, communicable disease, principles of first aid and psychological first aid.

Community Resilience Experiential Activity
Community Resilience experiential activities can be held with other workshops, including VR experience, fire, heat wave and cold spell workshops, design Emergency Kit, and first aid skills experience etc.
1. Moving Disaster Preparedness Education Truck
Hong Kong Red Cross Moving Disaster Preparedness Education Truck for participants to experience a mixture scenario of typhoon and fire in the truck, to learn how to deal with disasters.

2. Virtual Reality (VR) Experiential Game
Virtual Reality (VR) Game is designed for participants to experience flooding, earthquake and infectious disease, to learn how to deal with disasters.

3. Community Tour on Climate Disaster
Through the guided tour activity, participants can learn about typhoons, storm surges, and their impact on residents of High Risk District. At the same time, they can understand the impact of extreme weather on the community and how individual actions can help mitigate climate change.
