On 1 & 2 December 2011, the temperature in Hong Kong dropped sharply. To assist the street sleepers to overcome the harsh winter, the HKRC mobilized 13 staff and volunteers to distribute jackets to street sleepers in Sham Shui Po and Eastern Districts on 1 & 2 December. Knowledge on cold weather preparedness was also disseminated in order to reduce cases of weather related diseases and protect human life.

In addition, HKRC dispatched about 100 jackets in 6 Temporary Cold Shelters in Hong Kong to meet the urgent needs of the needy.
