Providing Emergency Relief Service to fire affected people at Fa Yuen Street, Mongkok


From late November to early December, the HKRC provided 3 Emergency Relief Services to fire affected people at Fa Yuen Street in Mongkok. On 30 November, a number 4 alarm fire broke out at Fa Yuen Street in Mongksok, caused 9 deaths and more than 30 injuries. The HKRC immediately mobilized 14 staff and volunteers to assist the Emergency Relief Service after received the request from the Social Welfare Department in the morning. Our staff and volunteers helped to mobilize relief items from our Disaster Relief Warehouse in Chai Wan, and distribute clothing and daily necessities to needy in Henry G Leong Yaumatei Community Centre. In the evening, we mobilized our Psychological Support Teams to the Community Center to provide psychological support services to the affected people. On 1 & 4 December, we mobilized our staff and volunteers again to distribute clothing and daily necessities for newly registered people after received requests from the Social Welfare Department.
