Providing Emergency Relief Services to fire affected people in Quarry Bay
On 14 November 2012, a fire broke out at Chung Hing Mansion in Quarry Bay at 10pm, shortly escalated to a No. 4 alarm fire, causing 8 injuries and they were sent to hospital for treatment. The affected residents were evacuated to shelter in the Quarry Bay Community Center by the Home Affairs Department.
The Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) immediately mobilized 4 staff and 8 volunteers to distribute sweaters to 170 people, relief items as requested by Social Welfare Department (SWD), and conducted initial assessment for psychological support. Thanks for the generous supports from our 24-hour standby relief volunteers, our Emergency Relief Services can be delivered smoothly and timely.
