Providing emergency assistance to the people affected by a fire accident in Ma Tau Wai
On 15 June 2011, a Number 3 alarm fire at 111 Ma Tau Wai Road in Hung Hom caused four deaths and nineteen injuries. 38 affected people were arranged to shelter in the Sheng Kung Hui Holy Carpenter Church Community Centre by Home Affairs Department.
The Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) immediately mobilized 17 volunteers and staff to distribute relief, including clothing bundles, cotton-padded clothes and daily necessities; psychological support was provided to affected residents in the community centre .
To relieve the needs of the affected people, the HKRC mobilized four volunteers and staff to provide relief, including clothing bundles, cups, towels, shampoo and shower gel to the affected people moved into Shek Lei interim housing on 20 June 2011.
