Torrential rain was brought by Typhoon Chanthu and the black rainstorm signal was issued. Flooding and landslides were resulted in different areas in Hong Kong.  Sah Po Tsai Village in Tai Po was one of the areas that were seriously affected by flooding. A villager died due to the flooding. A total of 36 residents were arranged to stay over night at the Tai Po Community Hall temporary.  In response to the needs of the affected villagers, Hong Kong Red Cross mobilized five staff and volunteers to distribute clothing bundles as well as daily necessities to the villagers.  Psychological support service was also offered to those in need.

Though water was receded in the following day, the affected houses were full of mud and debris that needed to clear immediately.  The Hong Kong Red Cross therefore mobilized seven staff and volunteers to provide home cleaning service to a single parent family to help them resume their normal life as soon as possible.
