Winter aid program to homeless people 2008/2009
Sudden drop in temperature to 12℃ on 28 November 2008, did not shut the Red Cross volunteers at home. On the contrary, the Hong Kong Red Cross volunteers visited homeless people in Tsuen Wan, Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong at that night. In the operation, jackets were distributed to 30 homeless people and cold preparedness information was delivered for protecting their life. Besides, the three teams of volunteers also paid regular visits and provided care to the homeless people in the three districts from October to December 2008.
Furthermore, the Hong Kong Red Cross has also stored jackets to various Cold Shelters for the homeless people admitted. A total of 98 people were benefited by our action in this winter.
