A fire happened in Fui Yiu Lane, Sai Kung on 27 October 2007, where an 83-year-old wheelchair-bound woman was burned to death in a squatter hut and the rest of family members were made homeless. They were then arranged to stay in the nearby community center temporarily.

On the same day, the Red Cross staff distributed relief materials including clothing bundles, sweaters, pillows and daily necessities to the 4 affected villagers to meet their emergency needs. Psychological support service was also rendered for consolation for them.
