On 1 December 2018, HKRC collaborated with Christian Family Service Centre Shun On District Elderly Community Centre to pay visits to the elderly. 102 volunteers were mobilized to visit 150 elderly living alone or with their spouse in Kwun Tong Shun On Estate and Shun Tin Estate. Knowledge of cold weather preparedness, fire prevention and evacuation were disseminated. Besides, cold resistance materials (including woolen socks, glove and hat) and survival kit (including torch, towel and whistle) were distributed to the needy to reduce the impact of cold weather on them and achieve life-saving purposes.

Our volunteers also recognized 31 households lacking of protection from the cold through the visit. Therefore, we distributed quilts, blankets and jackets to the elderly in need before cold spell on 7 December. Hope the elderly can get well prepared in this winter and strengthen the community resilience.
