There are many houses and roads built close to slopes in Tsuen Wan. During wet seasons, when slopes and retaining walls are lack of maintenance, landslips may happen due to ingression of water into slopes and soil erosion which may endanger human lives. In August 2005, a severe landslip occurred in the squatter areas in Fu Yung Shan. 

With the aim of enhancing knowledge and awareness on slope and home safety in the community, Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) and Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) jointly organize a Slope & Home Safety Exhibition on 4 -7 April 2008 at Citywalk Plaza, Vision City, Tsuen Wan. The kickoff ceremony will be held on 5 April 2008. Through public education activities, we believe people’s awareness can be raised and the community will be safer for protecting human life.
