Situation
Funing and Sheyang County of Yancheng Prefecture, Jiangsu Province were affected by thunder storms, heavy rain, wind storms, hails and tornado in the afternoon of 23 June 2016. Widespread destructions were made in the affected areas. Cars were swept away, factories and schools collapsed, electricity and telecommunications were disrupted.

According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, as of 24 June, 98 people died, 846 people injured, with 1,962 houses collapsed. Jiangsu Province has activated emergency response mechanism.

Red Cross Society of China Actions
The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) has mobilized 500 tents, 1,000 family kits and 3,000 jackets to the affected areas, and allocated RMB500,000 additionally to support the local Red Cross to procure relief materials.

The Jiangsu Red Cross has sent relief teams and materials, including tents, to the affected areas.

The Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) is closely monitoring the situation.
