Psychological Support Service - Service Sharing
A paraglider was missing on 22 July 2018 and was found dead on Lantau Island on 27 July 2018.
After assessing the distress level of the members of Hong Kong Paragliding Federation (HKPF) & Hong Kong Paragliding Association (HKPA), Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) immediately contacted the HKPF & HKPA to provide timely psychological support to the people in need.
Upon discussion with HKPF & HKPA, HKRC shortly set up a special psychological support hotline, providing psychological support service to the members who were emotionally distressed by the incident.
The HKRC immediately mobilized the Psychological Support team to operate the hotline centre at 3pm of 27 July 2018. During the service period from 27 to 29 July, 2 staff, 10 trained volunteers, 2 professional volunteers and 1 clinical psychologist were mobilized to handle the calls and provided timely psychological assistance as well as psycho-education to the members.
