A No. 10 Hurricane Signal raised over Hong Kong due to Super Typhoon Mangkhut on 16 September 2018, causing serious damage to various parts of Hong Kong.

After assessing the distress level of residents in Tai O, HKRC decided to mobilize 1 volunteer and 1 clinical psychologist to provide outreach service at Tai O to support the residents who were emotionally distressed by the incident.

At the same time, after assessing the distress level of the general public of Hong Kong, HKRC also decided to set up a special psychological support hotline, providing psychological support service to the people who were emotionally distressed by the incident.

During the service period from 19 to 20 September 2018, 3 staff, 4 trained volunteers and 1 clinical psychologist were mobilized to handle the calls and provided timely psychological assistance as well as psycho-education to the general public.
