Murder-suicide incident in commercial building
On 26 September 2018, a security guard was believed to have killed his ex-wife before jumping off the roof of a commercial building in Sheung Wan. After assessing the distress level of the staff and affected family members, HKRC immediately contacted the relevant property management company to provide timely psychological support to those people in need.
As referred by the property management company, a service request was received from one of the company at the commercial building on 9 Oct 2018 to support 2 affected staff. In the morning of 10 Oct 2018, HKRC mobilized 2 volunteers, 1 staff and 1 Clinical Psychologist of Psychological Support Team to provide timely group psychological support service to 2 staff to support their emotional needs.
The property management company also made a service request on 10 Oct 2018 to support their affected security, cleansing, maintenance and office staff. In the afternoon of 12 Oct 2018, HKRC mobilized 6 volunteers, 1 staff and 1 Clinical Psychologist of Psychological Support Team to provide timely group psychological support service to 13 staff to support their emotional needs. A follow up call to 1 beneficiary was made on 19 October 2018 by 1 PFAider with supervision of Clinical Psychologist at Hotline Center.
Upon receiving the follow up request from the property management company, HKRC mobilized 4 volunteers, 2 staff and 1 Clinical Psychologist of Psychological Support Team to provide group and individual psychological support service to support 5 staff on 22 Oct 2018.
